Being Thankful

In honor of Thanksgiving, that recently departed and neglected holiday, sandwiched as it is between Halloween and Christmas, I present a list of five things for which I am thankful this year (in no particular order).

1.
My family -- It has been almost one year since my dad had his heart attack, and I still think about how lucky I am to have him here. Things could have been much, much worse. Thank God they're not. I'm thankful, too, that my brother has not entered the service yet and is still here to celebrate another holiday season with us.

2. My friends -- This has been another year of meeting new friends, losing some old ones, and in general, trying to learn how to be a better friend. I think Joe and I have both succeeded. Thank you, again, to everyone who has put up with my craziness all these years. You deserve a gold star! ;)

3. My health -- Working at a health care facility has taught me that if there is one thing you shouldn't take for granted, it's your health. Good health can vanish in the blink of an eye -- sometimes never to be found again. Maybe I'm knocking on wood, but I'm sure glad I have mobility, my five senses, and my sanity (for the most part).

4. My boyfriend -- We've known each other since we were 14, we've been dating almost five years, and yet he's still sticking around. Wow. There's a lot to be said for that. With so many years together, we've become each other's best friends, and I couldn't ask for any better. (And he's cute, too!)

5. My community theater -- With this theater, I've found a tight knit community of actors, volunteers, and friends. This place is my creative outlet, and I'm glad I get the chance to "play" every few months or so. Here's to many more performances!

Take a minute to reflect on what you're thankful for. It can make all the difference.

First Post!

I'm starting a blog here on blogger because I got tired of my old blogging site. I may one day revert back to it, but for now, I think I'm ready for a change. My old site kept getting hacked into, which was exceedingly annoying, not to mention unsafe. Also, I couldn't keep up with all my online friends on the site. They wrote incessantly, and what with my full-time job and outside activities, I could barely find the time to read and note their posts. Ah, well. Sometimes, change can be a very good thing.
